It's the 1960s, and swinging bachelor Bernard couldn't be happier: a flat in Paris and three gorgeous stewardesses all engaged to him without knowing about each other. But Bernard's perfect life gets bumpy when his friend Robert comes to stay and a speedier Boeing jet throws off all of his careful planning. Soon all three stewardesses are in town simultaneously, timid Robert is forgetting which lies to tell whom, and a catastrophe looms.
Christopher Robin has decided to run away with his friends Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, Tigger and the rest. Probably they'll go to the North Pole or to the South Pole. For there is a dark, mysterious threat that Christopher Robbin is to be sent away to Education. Nobody knows exactly what or where that is, and if he's sent to such a distant place, what can his friends possibly do without him? So it's generally agreed that they'll run away. As the situation becomes clearer, Christopher Robin isn't quite so sure that running away is the answer.
The past will become the present during the annual Shelby County Pioneer Fair, at the Shelby County Fairgrounds on September 16, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 17, from noon to 4 p.m.
The two-day event, hosted by the Shelby County Historical Society, will be filled with many hands-on pioneer-related activities. These include washing clothes with a basin and ringer, making scarecrows with straw and clothing, churning cream into butter, hand-dipping candles, using a wood lathe, and making apple cider.
